Glow Wire Test Apparatus is designed to test the resistance to fire
of insulating
parts. It assesses the susceptibility of electrical insulating
materials to ignition as a result
of exposure to a glowing wire.This test method determines the
minimum temperature
required to ignite a material by the effect of a glowing heat
source, under the specified
conditions of test.
Specification:
Heating element: Nickel/Chromium glow-wire (80:20),4 mm dia,
shaped as specified in standards
Temperature sensor: Sheathed Cr/Al thermocouple,0.5 or 1.0 mm dia,
located in tight fitting pocket hole in glow-wire
Temperature range: Ambient to 999.9°C adjustable
Temperature precision: ± 5°C
Max.output power: 1000W
Glow wire application time: 0.1- 999.9 sec
Sample loading Test sample moves against glow-wire preloaded
to 1.0 ± 0.2N
Sample carriage: Automatic,motorised movement of test specimen
